Screen Name:  Midlifegal
First Name:  Nancy
I live in:  South Dakota
Birthday (Mo/Day):  February 5th
So what do you do?  I work with my DH on the farm and work part time in a small town near us (27 miles away).

Husband/SO Name:  Steve
And what does *he* do?  Working the farm we own.

Kids names:  Matthew and Megan, all grown up and on their own.  Megan is married and lives in Arizona, Matthew is in Washington.

When I have time, I enjoy:  I love to read and you find me not only reading lots of magazines and books but I listen to books on tape frequently.  I listen when cleaning house, when walking, when doing many things.  I enjoy working out in my yard.  I enjoy taking motorcycle rides with my husband.  I enjoy having coffee with friends.

Other iVillage areas you can find me:  Battle of the Bulge

Favorite ways of keeping fit (form of exercise, eating plan, etc.):I enjoy walking, biking and lifting weights.  My main form of eating plan is 'moderation' of all things.  When I really get down to business I count WW points.

Has fitness/healthy living always been a part of your life?  Give a little background:  Healthy living has not always been a part of my life.  I have always been fairly slim and I am petite...5'0" tall.  Whenever I gained five pounds I would just cut back on my eating for a week or two and those five pounds would be gone.  Once I had both kids, turned 30 and became a SAHM, I found that the weight did not come off as easily.  I had to watch what I ate a bit longer.  I still did not exercise, though.  I have never enjoyed exercise and it was not a part of my life.  I did not start exercising until my 40's when I found myself unable to get the extra five pounds off.  Those five became ten and I decided to begin exercising.  But I was very sporadic about it.  I would exercise for three days and then stop for three months, exercise four days and stop for three months, etc.  About age 45, I started exercising three days a week.  As I exercised I noticed that I firmed up a bit... one thing led to another and I began exercising more frequently and I incorporated bike riding and weight lifting into my exercise.  I now feel badly when I don't do any for a few days.  I still battle those few pounds but I am a trimmer person than I was a few years ago and I know that I am eating better and living a more healthy lifestyle.

When did you start posting here, and what keeps you coming back?  You know, I really cannot tell you exactly when I came here.  I didn't mark down the date!  What keeps me coming back is the friendships that I have developed here on this board.  These gals are as important to me as some of my lifelong friends here at home.
